It’s no secret that store-bought snack bars are packed full of refined sugars, preservatives and other fillers which can drive overeating, lead to blood sugar swings and weight gain.

These Cacao Crackle Bars are the perfect natural snack, being gluten free and low in fructose they are a great post workout refuel or with a cup of tea in the afternoon. Kids love them too!


CACAO CRACKLE BARS

I N G R E D I E N T S

  • 2 cups puffed rice

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil, melted

  • 1/3 cup raw cacao powder

  • 1/4 cup nut butter or tahini

  • 1/4 cup rice malt syrup (add more if you like them a little sweeter)

  • 1 cup unsweetened desiccated coconut (optional)

  • 1/4 cup linseed (optional)

  • Pinch of salt



M E T H O D


1. Blend coconut oil, rice malt syrup, nut butter, cacao powder and salt together until smooth.

2. Mix through puffed rice, desiccated coconut and linseed.

3. Place into lined pan and use back of a spoon or a piece of baking paper and rolling pin to press firmly into pan.

4. Place in the freezer for 10-15 minutes, until firm and ready to slice. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
